Located in the picturesque Prekmurje plain, in the village of Banuta, the Prekmurje Model Farm covers an area of 20 hectares. The story of the farm began in 2022.

We are committed to sustainable farming, which is reflected in our high-quality produce, including asparagus, berries and vegetables. Our dedication to nature is also evident in the introduction of composting, an important milestone on our journey towards environmentally friendly practices.

We strive to build close partnerships with local growers and encourage the use of domestic and locally sourced products. Our farm is an engaging educational centre where you can deepen your knowledge of sustainable practices and experience local culture in all its diversity.

We invite you to visit our farm and take a stroll through our herb garden and traditional farm garden, both carefully maintained in accordance with the principles of permaculture.

Animals – the heart of our farm

Our horses, donkeys, grey cattle, Krškopolje pigs and Mangalica pigs enjoy spacious outdoor areas, allowing you to observe them in their natural surroundings.

A harmonious relationship between fish and plants – Aquaponics

Alongside traditional and organic farming, we also use modern approaches on our farm. A small wonder of nature takes place in the tank that serves as a home for the fish. Water enriched with nutrients from fish waste is used to nourish the plants, continuously circulating between the tank and the plants.

Our farm extends across a wide area and includes several satellite locations. These allow us to carry out a variety of activities that have long been an important part of this region of Slovenia. These include fruit growing, schnapps distilling, milling, beekeeping, growing butternut squash, viticulture and oil pumpkin cultivation.
